As the weather is getting VERY cold this time of year I want to give you the best tips to keep your skin hydrated, your hands soft and your hair not static!
1- Hair masks and oil are life
If you don’t know my hair is very long and I get highlights so to keep it hydrated, looking shiny and controllable I always use hair masks! My favourite one EVER is the Andrew Barton SOS hair repair mask which instantly gets all my horrible knots out leaving my hair smooth, shiny and restored! And its only £1 from asda! I also pop a tiny amount of Label M Rejuvenating Radiance Oil in the ends of my hair which I think takes the static away and helps hair look young and youthful!
2- Hydrate yourself
Drink water because that obviously hydrates you!
Use anything with Hyaluronic acid in! A few examples- daily resurfacer, skin hydrating mask, skin hydrating booster. Hyaluronic acid is a unique cross-linker ingredient which provides increased hydration and improves elasticity. It can hold 1000 times its weight in water for a real powerful hydration.
3- Exfoliate and Moisturise
So important for all the body but especially face, hands and feet!
You want to remove excess skin cells which can build up causing breakouts, thick and textured skin and then lock as much hydration in by moisturising.
Same goes with hands and feet- where they are out in the cold you need to look after them prep them ready for hydration and repeat at least once a day for soft smooth hands and feet all year round! If you especially get dry cuticles I recommend solar oil which is what I use when I do manicures and pedicures! It can also help nails grow and become stronger which is a bonus!
And lips, I don’t tend to use an exfoliator on my lips but I know some people love that I tend to get a wet flannel and give them a good rub before bed and layer Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream on them! (best stuff ever for real dry cracked skin).
I am obsessed which spritzers! Dermalogicas Multi Active Toner is amazing for optimal moisture absorption which means before you apply your moisturiser its hydrates deep into the skin! It’s amazing to carry around daily is your skin is feeling stressed and tight from not enough hydration! I also love the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water one from hello skin although that is only water! Check out my blog I wrote before about spritzers here.
5- Remove makeup!!
SO MANY people do not remove their makeup or use makeup wipes to remove makeup- this is NOT okay! Sleeping with makeup not only can cause nasty bacterias spreading into your skin while you skin is trying to restore but can cause some nasty breakouts! And makeup wipes…. well lets just say ALCOHOL (aka drying) and leave it there!
Hope you loved reading my tips I use on a daily to keep myself hydrated through this cold winter! X
